Vision offers a flexible user management system that allows you to control who has access to your system and what they can do within it.
System member group "User"
The User group is the most basic role in Vision. Users have access to the interface, but not to the control panel. They can see all cameras and view them in real-time, manage identities in the directory section, create and export reports, and track the number of people in all locations in real-time in the live report section. This role is ideal for individuals who need to interact with the system but do not require administrative privileges.
System member group "Admin"
The Admin group is a step up from the User role. Admins have full access to the control panel, which means they can do everything that regular users can do, plus a lot more. They can edit permission groups, invite members, create locations and cameras, update settings, manage flags, labels, notifications, and more. This role is suitable for individuals who need to manage the system and its settings.
System member group "SpaceOwner"
The SpaceOwner group is the highest level of access in Vision. This role has owner rights and is the only person with this role. A space can have only one owner, but you can have as many admins as you want. The only difference between the space owner and the admin is that the space owner has access to the "Space" section within the Control Panel.
System member group "ExternalAPI"
The External API group is specialized for users who manage integrations with external applications and services.
System member group "Reporting"
The Reporting group is tailored for users primarily focused on data analysis and report generation. These users have access only to reporting dashboards, and can export data for further analysis. They play a key role in interpreting data for strategic decisions but do not have live view and broader system management capabilities.
System member group "Support"
The Support group is uniquely structured within the Vision system, typically remaining unassigned until a specific request for assistance is made by a client or Space Owner. When support is needed, members of NSoft's support team are invited to join this user group, granting them temporary, tailored access to the client's space. This role provides focused troubleshooting and technical support capabilities. Access for this role is carefully controlled and limited to periods when direct intervention is necessary, ensuring a balance between responsive support and client autonomy.
Custom member groups
For more complex organizations with diverse user needs, custom permission groups are a necessity. That's where the custom permission group feature comes into play. Visit this article to learn more about custom groups in the Vision system.
Managing roles and permissions
To manage roles and permissions in Vision, you need to access the Control Panel and navigate to the Members section. Here, you can view all existing users, change their status to "Enabled" or "Disabled", and assign them to different permission groups. You can also invite new members by entering their email address, choosing the space for which you’re adding the member, and selecting the preferred role. Understanding roles and permissions in Vision is crucial for effective user management. By assigning the right roles to your team members, you can ensure that everyone has the access they need to perform their tasks without compromising the system's security.
